Landscape Idea: Cost Efficient Retaining Walls

Retaining walls coming in all different shapes and sizes and are used in the landscape to retain soil, usually creating a more level, usable space above the wall. If you’ve had to dig a hole lately, you know that Connecticut soils are filled with rocks. Since rocks are so plentiful, why not use them right? One of the most cost effective ways to retain soil is by simple stacking boulders and backfilling behind them to build up the grade. Boulders are cheap, they are large so they cover quite a bit of area and they can be installed with equipment quickly. Here are two examples of boulder walls and a third picture of a more refined and costly stone wall.
