Here is a welcoming front entrance landscape we designed, installed and maintain in New Milford. There was a lot of opportunities to create a memorable experience for both homeowners and visitors to the front door. We decided to create a space that allowed 4 cars to park within 20 feet from the front door. Once there, the experience is a walk through a courtyard garden to the main entry into the house. Determining the distance between the new parking court and residence was important. If it was too far, a large garden would have needed to be created or lawn would have needed to be introduced into the space, something we were trying to avoid. Positioning the parking court for just the right sized garden was what we were after. At twenty feet, it would allow for multiple layers of plants yet wasn’t too large that it felt impersonal. The space was designed for a generous front walkway with a width of 6.5′. The space was also wide enough to allow for a stepping stone walk to bisect the space creating 4 garden quadrants that are filled with flowers and flowering and evergreen shrubs.
