We just finished up a brand new landscape design for a pool in Redding. Pool surround, BBQ and Firepit is made from granite and was installed by New Art Pools in New Milford. The landscape design, landscape install and bed maintenance was provided by us, Designing Eden llc.

To get to this point was a long process. I originally met the homeowner in the spring of 2017. The homeowner was working with a landscape architect. We bid the 3rd concept for the pool and it was approved. At that point, we were expecting to install the plan in late spring but there was an issue with the granite pool surround. It looked like some of the granite pieces were holding water while others were dry. By late summer, that was figured out and we were called back for what were that was going to be a quick and easy meeting. The homeowner wasn’t so convince she wanted to move forward with any of the plans the landscape architect had draw. At that point, we started designing the area around the pool. We went back and forth all fall. Once the cold weather came, the homeowner shelved the project. We picked back up where we left off in late February. By May, the homeowner was ready to plant but we didn’t have anything in place regarding the landscape design so I suggested we do something I’ve never done before in 30 years in business. I suggested I bring a computer down to the clients house and we design it together. The homeowner has lived on this property for decades. She didn’t exactly know what she wanted for this new pool but she definitely knew what she didn’t want. Within and hour or two, we had a new plan and landscape that I could get going on. The client didn’t want any symmetry in the landscape which I will admit, I struggled with. The pool was center on a covered back deck with columns. I typically would design the planting scheme around those columns but in this situation, it was not wanted. I liked being pushed out of my comfort zone through the eyes of a client.

Here is a quick view of the finished landscape. The homeowner wanted to start with small plants so I’m anxious to see this one fill in over the next year of two.
