This is the second season planting this cutting garden in Washington, CT. Last season, when I took over the landscaping of this property, I didn’t have a lot of time to plan this garden or procure mature plants. Subsequently, I planted it with a lot of small plants known for cutting. Season one was mostly a flop, not only because we started with small plants but also because halfway through the garden season, we had some type of animal or animals get into this fenced garden. My guess is, it was a deer. Yes, some plants were eaten but the destruction appeared to be more from one of more animals lying down or running through in the garden. A lot of plants were crushed and never recovered. This season, with a little more planning, we are off to a more successful start. We started with more mature plants for instant impact…..and instant cutting! Two bouquets were cut within the first week and that will hopefully continue weekly, through the entire garden season. Thoughts?
